Stay Strong, Show Your Patriotism, and Celebrate Independence Day

What words and images come to mind when you think about Independence Day? We can’t blame you if you say there are too many to count, but surely your shortlist starts with feel-good beliefs of patriotism, strength, freedom, equality, life, liberty, and even the pursuit of happiness. There’s likely also visions in your head of the American flag waving proudly everywhere you turn, and your young son or daughter pointing at the sky as beautiful fireworks explode high above them.

And let’s not forget the good times with family — playing corn hole or tossing a football in the front yard, and sitting under a covered patio enjoying a plate of BBQ while the cool breeze of a windmill ceiling fan kisses your face.

Kelly and Phillip Eggers, proud owners of The Original Windmill Ceiling Fan Company, are right there with you. Families are meant to spend time together on July 4 and show their patriotism in as many ways as possible. It’s what makes this country so great! Even in difficult times, we can all take a step back and be proud of where we’ve been, what we’ve accomplished, and all the many things we have to look forward to as a nation. It’s definitely something Kelly thinks about all the time. When she was little, she remembers spending time on her grandmother’s farm as the entire family came together to celebrate America’s birthday. It was always a happy time, and it’s something she and Phillip strive to emulate.

“I can’t imagine a better time of the year,” Kelly said of Independence Day.

What also makes July 4 so special is what it represents, and the courage our forefathers showed in making it a reality.

July 4, 1776 — Our Independence Day! It was the day that we as a nation stood up to oppression and tyranny from Great Britain and said, “NO MORE! As Americans, we the people deserve better.”

So after a year of fighting, the second Continental Congress took a vote and decided it was finally time to declare our Independence. With help from Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Livingston, John Adams, and Roger Sherman, the first draft of what became our Declaration of Independence was written and ultimately approved on July 4. From that day forward, July 4 was forever known as a national holiday — a day we celebrate with parades, flags as far as the eye can see, music, fireworks, gun salutes, trips to the lake, BBQ, and good old-fashioned family time.

So as we quickly approach another July 4 celebration, we hope you will do our country proud and show off your undying patriotism for all the world to see. Dress up your cars, put flags in the front yard, decorate the front porch, and spend time shooting off fireworks with the kiddos. On top of that, consider giving The Original Windmill Ceiling Fan Company a chance to spruce up your celebration even more with a gorgeous “Americana Custom Finish” windmill ceiling fan.
